Glastonbury Wool Festival Announced

Calling All British Knitters! Alpaca Culture received the following announcement from the UK Hand Knitting Association. For more information, please visit their website at http://www.ukhandknitting.com/ or follow the links below.

Dear British Wool Maker,

You may have already heard about the Glastonbury Wool Festival (http://glastonburywoolfestival.co.uk/). Last year’s event included a Fashion Show hosted by Ben Mears from Jaeger; it was a huge success.  This presented a great opportunity for all sorts of people in and outside of the industry to showcase their garments made from British wool and alpaca.

We would like to invite you to contribute your designs for this year’s event. We are looking for complete outfits or garments for adult male, female or children, but they must be made from wool or alpaca from the UK.

Items could be knitted, crocheted, woven or felted. The wool can be hand spun or commercially produced as long as the processing is in the UK. We need a mix of articles so jackets, sweaters, skirts, dresses, wraps, hats, handbags, gloves and scarves are all possibilities.

This year we would like to offer the audience the opportunity to purchase or place orders, for items from the show. There is no requirement for people to put items up for sale, simply an opportunity if anyone did want to sell their creative output. A percentage (20%) would be taken at the sale, to go to the sheep dog charities.

Jackie, Debbie and Julie are organising the Fashion Show. Jackie is a member of the Somerset Guild. Debbie and Julie are from woolcake a sustainable wool company. They will all be offering items for the show.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in an event that promotes the British Wool Industry and celebrates the tradition and craft in Somerset.

In addition, we are looking for models of all shapes, sizes and age. If you would be prepared to model at the Festival do let us know.
