Folks in this area are sort of familiar with the day-to-day operations taking place on any given farm.

But, there’s probably a lot people who don’t really get a behind-the-scenes look.

The Fulton County Farm Bureau has initiated a program, Friend in the Field, to give those not involved in agriculture a brief glimpse of farm life.

Tuesday, I participated and spent considerable time with brothers, Barry and Bruce Fisher. Fulton County Farm Bureau manager, Elaine Stone, was there, too

Like most farm families it is a group effort. Barry’s wife Laura helps when she’s not at work at Graham Medical. Likewise, daughter Robin and son Bill do their part, too.

Barry has crops (corn and soybeans), a huge herd of sheep, cattle and three Alpacas. The Alpacas are tasked with guarding the sheep. Zeke, the family dog has no trouble keeping the herd in check.
