From the feel of it, October portends to be balmy, even hot, with temperatures forecast in the mid-70s to low 80s for several weeks. Perfect weather for all those fun family festivities…like Fauquier’s Fall Farm Tour this year taking place on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There are seven stops this year, so get out your old barn boots, throw on jeans and flannel shirt and you’re off.

Entrepreneur and alpaca breeder Mary Forte of Mary's Alpaca will swing open the gates at her 134-acre Cedar Hill Farm near The Plains. And guess what? She has two baby alpacas to display. “Togo” was born four weeks ago, is brown in color and Forte describes her as “inquisitive.” The other new offspring is “Wile E. Coyote,” 4 months old and starkly white.

“We have plenty to show off,” Forte said, “but this is not a petting zoo.”
