DON’T be alarmed if you suddenly see an alpaca strolling down Semaphore Rd.

Meet Audrey – the latest addition to Semaphore Pets and Garden.

After the loss of their 14-year-old pink silkie chook companion, Fran, pet store owners Nadine and Steve Crampton sought a new friend to join them at work – one that turned out to be a fair bit bigger than their last.

“We just fell in love with her,” Mrs Crampton said after meeting the chocolate brown alpaca at the Royal Adelaide Show last month.

“She is absolutely beautiful. She comes to work each day and then comes home with us. She walks up and down Semaphore Rd each day so she’s getting her exercise.

“Alpacas aren’t for everyone, they are not designed to be a backyard pet, but with our lifestyle here it suits her.”
