An alpaca named Flamboyant has made a dashing entry in the show ring.

The young Canterbury alpaca with rich bloodlines, Stoneleigh Flamboyant, confirmed its show winning pedigree by taking the top ribbon at a Waikato competition after collecting the national supreme title in September.

Flamboyant was among a team of alpacas taken by owners Chris and Liz Strack to the Waikato A&P Show, the second largest alpaca show after the Alpaca Association New Zealand (AANZ) National Show, and did not disappoint.

The light fawn intermediate female huacaya alpaca is a daughter of multiple national supreme championship winning sire Stoneleigh Valentino and won the supreme championship at the Hamilton show last weekend.

Chris Strack said they had wanted to test Flamboyant to ensure its win at the national show at Feilding was not a one-off.
