Peruvian alpaca fiber exports reached US$68.3 million between January and November 2017, up by 110% over the same period in 2016, Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) informed.

Said increase was mainly explained by higher volume (84%) and average prices (14%) of said exported products.

Likewise, Mincetur stressed alpaca fiber shipments rose 246% last November, thus totaling US$7 million.

This positive result was driven by greater exports to China (390%) and Italy (86%), as well as increased shipments from Inca Tops and Texao Lanas companies.

In the analyzed period, the value of alpaca fiber exports to China grew 217%, climbing from US$15.1 million (2016) to US$48 million (2017).

Likewise, shipments to Italy totaled US$15 million, a 43% rise from the same term in 2016 (US$10.5 million).
